Description 
Cardel has developed a wide range of standard and bespoke adhesives to ensure an appropriate product is available for all materials that our clients may use. The Cardel Hi Bond™ Adhesive range includes but is not limited to:
- Hi Bond™ 2 – an economical formulation adhesive designed to deliver adhesion of embedding in commercially challenging sectors – It is typically used in the embedding of GSM (SIM) cards that are manufactured from PVC.
- Hi Bond™ 3 – a high performance adhesive used globally by manufacturers of banking cards subjected to intense ISO and Payment scheme requirements (Mastercard, Visa, China Union Pay). It is particularly suited to cards manufactured from PVC or PVC/ABS blends.
- Hi Bond™ 70-1 – a high performance, long lasting adhesive developed for the demanding identity sector, where 10-year card lifetime may be required. The adhesive is formulated for embedding into Polycarbonate and PVC Cards as well as some PET types.
- Hi Bond™ 70-B (Black) – a variant of Hi Bond 70-1 that is highly adhesive with PVC and Polycarbonate while also protecting against laser energy leakage. This adhesive is used extensively in GSM (SIM) card embedding to protect the chip if laser energy penetrates through the thin layer of plastic on the back of the module cavity. It is compatible with PVC, Polycarbonate and some PET variants.
- Hi Bond™ LT – a specialist adhesive developed to support environmentally friendly card materials like PETG and PETF. It operates at lower temperatures than standard Cardel adhesives, allowing our customers to reduce card distortion and increase the throughput rate of chip embedding.
- Hi Bond™ MPV – one of Cardel’s newly released adhesives. It has been formulated to give high strength bonding of plastic layers to metal sheets for Metal card manufacturing and typically achieves > 20N/cm peel strength, ensuring there is no separation of card layers during use.
Specification
Cardel Hi Bond™ Chip Adhesives are all available in standard lengths of 100m, 200m, 300m or 400m per reel and can be supplied in standard widths of 29mm or 29.5mm and custom widths up to 625mm.
Each Cardel Adhesive has a standard thickness but can be available in custom thicknesses as required ranging from 20 microns to 120 microns.
Rigorous tests are conducted by Cardel and our customers to ensure that our adhesive meets the requirements of ISO, Mastercard CQM, Visa PBS and CUP standards.
The nature of our Hi Bond™ adhesives is such that a long shelf – life of 2 years is assigned which is subject only to undemanding storage conditions (see Cardel TDS documents).
There is no requirement to store Cardel adhesives in special refrigerated conditions.
